Argentine Ants

Argentine Ants are common in our area. They are 1/12" to 1/4" long. Their bodies are light to dark brown. They prefer to build their nests in moist areas, such as soil next to a building, sidewalk, or beneath boards and usually near a source of food and water. They can climb trees and can access a home through the roof.

Argentine Ants prefer sweets and will forage along regular paths from their nests. Their activity typically increases in Spring and Autumn in preparation for the changing seasons.

They are very adaptable and will move into a home and persist where most ants won't!

Fire Ants

Fire Ants are very active and vicious, with a severe sting that produces sores and can cause nausea and difficulty breathing. They have been known to attack and even kill small animals. They are 1/15" to 1/4" long and are reddish-brown with a darker abdomen. Their nest looks like loose, cultivated soil and form a mound (or mounds) that can be bigger than a dinner plate at the base.

At Perimeter Pest Management, we pride ourselves in understanding ants, knowing where they live and how to effectively control them.
